Evelyn Poe

Evelyn T. Poe (nee Gennetti), age 94, formerly of Devon, PA, passed away on September 1, 2016. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Gennetti (nee Scotese). She grew up in South Philadelphia. In her youth she was active in the Sacred Heart Club of her Parish church, St. Rita's, and as a young adult she acted in many plays as a member of the Philopatrian Theatre Guild of Philadelphia. Evelyn eventually moved to the suburbs and lived in Newtown Square for 22 years before moving to Devon where she lived for the next 39 years.
Evelyn was a graduate of South Philadelphia High School and the Moore College of Art. She was employed as the headmaster's administrative assistant and the Art teacher at Devon Preparatory School from 1970-1993. She started the art program curriculum at the high school when it added 7th and 8th grades. She was a long time member of the Delaware Valley Art League and continued to study and paint at the Wayne Art Center under Mr. Sweeney. Evelyn loved to travel and garden, and was an accomplished still life and landscape painter.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Daniel A. Logue, Jr., who passed away in 1959, and her sister, Elizabeth Moran. She is survived by her husband David G. Poe, whom she married in 1976, her son, John M. Logue, her stepdaughters, Catherine Poe, Patricia Poe and Eileen Poe-Yamagata, her siblings Marilyn Cabrera and William Gennetti and four step-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews, friends and family.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family Friday, September 9, 2016, St. Monica Church, 635 First Avenue, Berwyn, PA at 9:30, and to her Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment at Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken, PA.
