He sponsored a fund for deserving children and grandchildren of his classmates, and created a scholarship fund in his hometown, Alicia, Isabella Philippines. Most importantly, he sponsored a medical fund for his classmates whom need monetary help for medications and hospitalizations. Normally, he would credit this to "The Class of '66".

"Be", as he was fondly called, was one of the founders of the first Fil-American Lions club in the United States during his early years here. The love of his life was the Santo Nino de Cebu. There, he was the President of the Filipino Pastoral Council. Fernando was so proud to be a part of the church where he could help others and propagate the faith. He was so grateful that the Augustinians gave us, the Filipino Community, the opportunity to practice our faith and traditions at Olde St. Augustine's since 1992. He found joy in devoting his life to the Church, where he was able to help Filipino priests further their studies at Villanova University where they were sponsored by himself and other members of the Filipino community.

During Christmas, "Be" also encouraged different Filipino associations to contribute a charity basket for needy families in the Philadelphia area, this continues to this day.
