Florence C. Scarano

Florence C. Scarano (nee Koble) was born in Philadelphia on January 25, 1936 to Fred and Martha (nee Aiken) Koble.  She is preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Dominic “Skee” Scarano.  She is survived by her son Shawn Scarano (Jennifer), her two sisters, Marlene Foody (Ed) and Darlene Mandarino. She is preceded in death by her brother Fred A. Koble and her sister Katherine “Sissy” Donachie. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jasmine (Joseph), Arianna, and Sienna, as well as, her great-granddaughter, Ara’Bella and many nieces and nephews.

Florence’s family moved to Wynnewood where she attended Lower Merion High School and went on to earn her Degree in Education at West Chester University, so she could fulfill her childhood dream of becoming a teacher. Florence and Skee moved to Flourtown where she took advantage of an opportunity to teach second grade and did so for 40 years in the Springfield School District (Montgomery County). 

She gave so much of her time to her community by participating in the Parent Teacher Association, singing in her church choir at Zion Lutheran Church and teaching Sunday school and Vacation Bible School.  She also volunteered as a math and reading tutor upon retirement from Springfield School District in 2008.  She received the Citizenship Award from the Rotary Club of Springfield Township and recognition from STEA for 25 years of service.

Relatives and family are invited to Florence’s visitation on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 10:00am followed by her 11:00am memorial service at Christ’s Lutheran Church, 700 East Pennsylvania Avenue, Oreland, PA. Interment private.
