Fortunato "Jay" Schiavello, age 82, of Ocean City, NJ, formerly of West Chester, died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on February 16, 2015.
Born in 1932 in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Carmela (Calla) and the late Fortunato Schiavello.
He was the beloved husband of Laurajean (nee DeFelice); the loving father of Jay Schiavello (Terri), Maria Maniet (Alan), Steven Schiavello (Shalisa), and Nicole Lockhart (Robert); loving grandfather of Christine, Daniel, Tess, Laura, Alan, Olivia, Tyler, Lauren, Kate, Carson, Cooper, and Jason.
Jay was a graduate of Overbrook High School and attended Temple University. He worked in the contracts department for Unisys Corporation until his retirement in 1995.
He was a sweet and gentle man with a happy smile and a kind heart. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday, February 22, 2015 and 9:30-10:30 AM Monday at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382, 610-431-9000, followed by his Funeral Mass 11:00 AM Monday at SS Simon & Jude Church, 8 Cavanaugh Ct., West Chester, PA. Interment SS Peter Cemetery.
