The Heart of Our Family
Frances “Frani” Hopson (nee Faustman), 80, of Bryn Mawr, PA passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on February 7, 2025 after a courageous battle with Leukemia. Frani was born on December 20, 1944 in Baltimore, MD to the late Francis and Catherine Faustman (nee Schaefer) and was the oldest of four children. At the age of 9, Frani moved to Drexel Hill, PA where she grew up alongside her siblings Thomas Faustman (Joan), John Faustman (Claire) and S. Jean Faustman, S.S.J.
Frani was a proud graduate of Saint Andrews School, Archbishop Prendergast and West Chester University where she met lifelong friends and her husband of 57 years, George. Frani was a loving and caring wife, devoted mother and adored Mimi. Her gentle spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Frani was known for her strong faith, extraordinary patience, unconditional love, kindness, and sense of humor.
Frani was the mother of four children, Michael Hopson, Elisa McClatchy, Brian Hopson & Kristin Addis (Robert). Her life revolved around them, and she was the center of their world. Frani’s most favorite title was Mimi. She was the proud Mimi to Lexie McClatchy, Kayla McClatchy, Cierra Hopson, Dante Hopson, Jaede Hopson, Ava Addis and Brynn Addis. Frani loved nothing more than time spent with her grandchildren. She taught them invaluable life lessons and they were truly the loves of her life.
Frani had a career in retail and was employed at Altman’s, Strawbridge’s, Hecht’s and Macy’s, where she worked her way up to become the Manager of the Men’s Polo Department. It was here that she created lasting friendships with coworkers with whom she shared many laughs.
Having lunch with her Saint Andrews friends, participating in dance class, watching sports, crocheting, listening to music, cooking, reading, and spending time in Avalon on “Patti’s deck” were some of her greatest joys. She was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Thomas of Villanova which was one of the ways she helped fulfill her desire to give back to the community. Frani was such a beautiful soul and bright light.
Frani devoted her selfless life to her faith, her beloved husband, four children and her seven grandchildren. Frani will be deeply missed by many, especially by her family and friends that she leaves behind. We are so fortunate to have had Frani as part of our lives.
