Francis S. Barrett, 78, of Hershey's Mill, Chester County, PA and Townsend's Inlet, NJ, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, at Chester County Hospital with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Kathleen F. Barrett, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage.
Born at Misericordia Hospital, West Philadelphia, Pa, on May 27, 1938, he was the son of the late S. Frank and Margaret (Walsh) Barrett, of Havertown, PA.
Frank graduated in 1956 from West Catholic High School, Philadelphia, PA and attended Villanova (1957) and Saint Joseph's (1958) Universities.
Frank was employed by The Philadelphia Electric Company, retiring as an Assistant to the Manager of Gas Distribution and Utilization. Frank retired in 1991 after 33 years of service. He was involved in a number of organizations. He was a 65 year Retreatant at the Malvern Retreat House where he also served as an Associate Captain and Recruiter. He was also a member of the PECO Energy Quarter Century Club, the American Society of Gas Engineers, and The Gas Utilization Advisory Group. Frank served in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard for 6 years, in a Nike Ajax Missile Battalion.
Frank has been a member of Saints Simon and Jude Roman Catholic Church, Westtown, PA since 1965.
In addition to his wife, Frank is survived by his children, Francis S. Barrett (Wife Deborah), of Chester Springs, PA; Joan A. Versaggi (Husband Paul) of Downingtown, PA; Robert J. Barrett
(Wife Amy) of Malvern, PA; Margaret M. Connolly (Husband James) of St. David's, PA and Mary Beth Barrett (Husband Kevin) of Wayne, PA, and by eight grandchildren, Maura and Connor Barrett, Michaela, Chelsea and Daniel Connolly, and Natalie, Erin and Audrey Versaggi.
Frank was the brother of the late Joseph J. Barrett (Wife Sondra F.), William J. Barrett (Wife Lynda G.) and John A. Barrett (Wife Joan L.) and brother-in-law of James J. Fee (Wife Jackie C.), Francis X. Fee (Wife Kathleen "Toots" C.), the Late John J. Fee (Wife Arlene M.), Michael J. Fee (Wife Patti L.) and Andrew J. Fee (Wife Michelle K.). He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike West Chester, PA 19382, 610-431-9000 on Sunday, February 26, 2017 from 4:00 until 7:00PM and on Monday, February 27, 2017 from 8:30 -9:30AM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Saints Simon and Jude Roman Catholic Church, Routes 3 and 352 Westtown, PA, on Monday Feb 27,2017 at 10:00AM. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken, PA.
