Francis Leavens, of Edisto Beach, South Carolina formerly of West Chester, Pa passed away on June 6, 2019. Francis' loving wife of 67 years Adelaide Leavens (nee Stover) passed away on June 8, 2019 surrounded by their loving family.
Francis was a Retired Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army. He earned many awards during his time in the Army. Francis owned two businesses after his time in the military. Before he was in the Army he served in the US Navy and was on the same ship with President Jimmy Carter. The professor from Gilligan's Island loved to make jokes about Francis. Francis loved telling jokes to his friends and family. He also enjoyed spending time shrimping and crabbing.
Adelaide was a loving stay at home mom to her children. Adelaide also worked with her husband at the two businesses they owned. She was a model in her younger years. Adelaide enjoyed spending time at the beach.
Francis and Adelaide loved playing golf with each other during their down time. They enjoyed spending time in Edisto Beach where they resided for the last 20 years. They were also very avid travelers, they spent time in Paris, Germany, Switzerland, Australia, Hawaii, and many more places. Francis and Adelaide loved each other very much and they enjoyed spending their time with friends and family.
Francis and Adelaide were the loving parents of Laureen Loesch (Don) and the late Edward Leavens; adoring grandparents of Christopher Loesch (Ashley), Crystal and Kendall Loesch; caring great grandparents of Aidan and Peyton Loesch. Francis was predeceased by his siblings Jimmy Leavens, Joseph Leavens, and Dolores Winch. Adelaide was the devoted sister of Grace Fries (Bob) and Aunt of Timothy Fries and Colleen Fries and her son Steven.
Relatives and friends are invited to their visitation Thursday, June 13, 2019 9:00-10:00 AM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA, followed by their Funeral Mass 11:00 AM at SS Simon & Jude Church, 8 Cavanaugh Ct, West Chester, PA 19382. Interment St. Agnes Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions to SS Simon and Jude Church would be appreciated.
