Francis Gerard Dwyer, Ph.D., 86, of Kennett Square, PA and formerly of Westtown, PA, passed away on December 24, 2017.
Born in Philadelphia, PA in 1931, he was the son of the late Francis George and Elizabeth (nee Foley) Dwyer. Frank graduated from St. Joseph Preparatory School in 1949. He was a graduate of Villanova University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering in 1953 and went on to receive his Master's degree in 1963 and his Ph.D. degree in 1966, both from the University of Pennsylvania. Frank served honorably in the US Army and did research as a Senior Scientist at the Mobil Oil Company.
He was the beloved husband of Miriam H. (nee Hutelmyer) Dwyer; loving father of Sharon Hannan (Thomas), Timothy Dwyer (Nancy), Sean F. Dwyer (Jo Ann), Sheila Galvis (Christian), and Colleen Dwyer; dear brother of Catherine Meyers and the late Sr. Mary Dwyer, I.H.M.; also survived by 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 9:00-10:50 AM Friday, December 29, 2017 at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, 15 E. Pleasant Grove Rd, West Chester, PA 19382 followed by his Funeral Mass 11:00 AM. Interment St. Patrick Cemetery, Kennett Square, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, 100 E. Wynnewood Road, Wynnewood, PA 19096 would be appreciated.
