Francis L. "Frank" Rapp

Francis L. “Frank” Rapp, age 101, of Ocean City, NJ, formerly of Glenside, PA, passed away on September 30, 2023. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph L. and Margaret (nee Fowell) Rapp.

Frank was the beloved husband of the late Mary E. (nee Gilmartin) Rapp; loving father of Susan R. Halczenko (Wasyl), Michael L. Rapp (Jeanie), John J. Rapp (Lynn), Mary M. Rapp, Peter J. Rapp (Peggy), and Gina N. Hibbs (Dave); adoring grandfather of 16 grandchildren and great-grandfather of 22 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his brother William R. Rapp.

Frank, a WWII veteran served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 – 1947 and was a Navy Aviator.  He flew seaplanes in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theater of Operations participating in numerous campaigns while conducting maritime reconnaissance, search and rescue, medical evacuation, and bombing missions. After his discharge, he served in the Naval Reserves in Willow Grove, PA.  When he and Mary retired to Ocean City, they traveled to Ireland and Europe in addition to spending time in Florida in the winter.  Frank was a member of the Octogenarian Club as well as the Ocean City Pilots Association and made many friends and flying companions.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 10:00-11:00 AM on Friday, October 20, 2023, at St. Laurence Church, 8245 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
