Francis J. Robinson, 93, of Radnor, PA, passed away May 23, 2019.
Born July 8, 1925 in Scranton, PA, he was a son of the late Francis and Helen P. (nee Gaughan) Robinson.
Fran served honorably in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a radio operator on the Admiral's flag ship the USS Appalachian. He maintained lifelong friendships with his fellow radio operators and attended reunions throughout his life.
After WWII, Fran attended Syracuse University. He earned a merit based scholarship and graduated cum laude with a degree in Journalism. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor law degree from Syracuse University College of Law with highest honors including Order of the Coif.
After graduation, Fran was selected for a prestigious position at Department of Justice in Washington, DC. He then went on work for the General Electric Company where he would have a successful 30-year career as General Counsel in the Aerospace Division. His job with GE took him all over the world, including England, Germany, and Japan and is where he met his beloved wife, Connie. He was also involved in local politics serving on Radnor's Board of Commissioners in the 1970s.
Fran retired from GE at age 59. He and Connie enjoyed their retirement to the fullest, golfing, boating and spending time with friends at their second home on Longboat Key, Florida. Fran was a longtime member of Overbrook Golf Club in Villanova, PA and the Longboat Key Club in Longboat Key, Florida. Fran enjoyed reading especially true crime thrillers and practicing his law degree which he kept current into his 90's.
He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 40 years, Connie M. (nee Norris); his children: Mark and Debora; his stepson: Kyle; his grandchildren: Ashley and Jamie; his step grandchildren: Christina and Michael; and his siblings: Jack and Maryellen. He was predeceased by his sisters, Dolores and Gwynn, his younger brother Jimmy, and his stepson Michael.
Services and interment will be private.
