Frank J. Doelp

Frank J. Doelp, age 94, of Glen Mills, PA, formerly of Lansdowne, PA, passed away on January 31, 2023.  Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Frank and Frances Doelp (nee Cassidy).

Frank was a graduate of Southeast Catholic High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. His ship was deployed to China during the Korean War. He had a full career with the federal government working as a logistics manager.  With his wife, Cecilia, he raised a family of four children in Lansdowne, PA.  He was a treasurer of the local Cub Scout pack and helped with the collection at Sunday Mass at St. Philomena parish.  He volunteered to help clean and paint the parish school.  He was very interested in following current events and politics.  After retiring, he worked for a U.S senatorial campaign.  He was a fan of Philadelphia sports, especially the Phillies and Big Five basketball.  He loved reading western novels by Louis L’Amour and watching John Wayne and Clint Eastwood movies.  Frank had great empathy for the plight of Native American children and contributed generously to their charities. 

Most of all, Frank was devoted to his family.  He ensured that his children all had a strong Catholic primary and secondary education, instilling a sense of respect for all their teachers, especially the nuns.  He showed by example that through hard work and a good education they would be set up for success in life.  Frank was an extraordinary father who led an ordinary life."

Frank was predeceased by his beloved wife, Cecilia M. Doelp (nee Liston) and his brother Edward F. Doelp (Sis).  He is survived by his loving children Francis Doelp (Joanne), Charles Doelp (Susan), James Doelp, Sr. (Dawn) and Christine Doelp (Tom). Dear grandfather of Stephanie, Patrick, Zachary, Thomas and James, Jr.  

Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family Tuesday, February 7, 2023 9:30-10:30 AM St. Philomena Church, 41 E. Baltimore Avenue, Lansdowne, PA and to his Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM.  Interment SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
