Fred Fow

Fred Andrew Fow, M.D., 60, of Downingtown, PA passed away suddenly on October 14, 2020.

Born May 2, 1960 in Philadelphia, PA, he was a son of Gladys (nee Micklin) Fow and the late Benjamin “Buddy” Fow.

Fred graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, attended graduate school at Northwestern University in Chicago, and earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania (now Drexel University College of Medicine).  Fred practiced pediatric medicine for 30 years at the Nemours/Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children, first as an Emergency Medicine Physician, then as a Hospitalist and finally as an Attending Physician in the Division of Sedation in the Department of Anesthesia. His gentle and compassionate manner toward the children and their families was known hospital-wide.

Fred and his family loved to travel, and, when not in a distant place around the world, they would venture to Maine and Acadia National Park.  He enjoyed all kinds of music but most especially that of Jon Anderson.  Most importantly, Fred lived a truly family-centered life, guided by ideals of compassion and joy.

Fred was the beloved husband of 32 years of Angela Marie (nee O’Reilly) Fow, loving father of Katherine Anne, Christina Elizabeth and Olivia Marie Fow, adoring PoPo to his granddaughter Sophia Rose Persell-Fow, devoted son-in-law of John C. and Angela M. O’Reilly, caring brother-in-law of Paula Fow and Kathleen T. Kick (Mitch), dear uncle of Leah Fow, M.D. (Trevor Sammis), Kim Fow, Nicholas Kick, Colin Kick and Brandon Kick.  He was pre-deceased by his brother, Neil Fow, PhD.

A Prayer Service will be held at St. Agnes Church, 233 W. Gay St. West Chester, PA 19380 on Thursday, October 22, 2020.  Visitation is 10 to 11:30 am with the Prayer Service at 11:30. Burial will be private.
