Frederic Normil was born in L’Asile, Haiti on July 3, 1941 to the Late Pierre and Amma Normil. He was the eldest of eight children; Acelor, Milor, Vilderic, Lunique, Lormis and in 1952 after his father died, Amma remarried and produced Emma and Cloitierre Aupont.
After his father’s passing, he stepped up to be the “man of the house” by always looking out for his mother and siblings until his mother remarried. Eventually he would finish secondary school and worked at the airport in Port au Prince and married the Late Marie Elisna Jean.
He migrated to Brooklyn, New York and worked as a Machinist at a paper company for many years until the company closed down. He had to find a way to support himself and his family and became a cab driver.
He was a people person. Whether you met him while driving in his cab, at a store, a family function or an event, he could talk your ears off. He was gregarious and always the life of the party. When he stepped into a room, you can rest assured that any conversation he would engage in, whether it was about politics, life, family or whatever it was, he made sure he was the loudest and had to get his point across no matter what. He was generous with his resources and with his time. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends alike, especially at the China Buffet. He always made sure you were well fed and had a good time.
He soon moved to Philadelphia and attended a local church where he eventually brought along many families from Brooklyn to move and attend his church. He was known as the unofficial ambassador of Philadelphia because he felt it was his purpose to see all of his friends have a better life and opportunities in the city he knew and loved.
Frederic will be greatly missed and is survived by his wife Marie Michelline: his children John, Dorothy, Nadege and Kevin, his grandchildren Christopher, Christal, Elijah and Chloe. His step-sons Daniel, David and Esaie along with their wives and children, and a host of other relatives and friends.
