Gail Ayers

Gail L. Ayers (née), 74, of West Chester, PA passed away on March 21, 2019.

Born in 1945 in Franklin, PA, she was the daughter of the late Leonard C. and Virginia L. (Turner) Smith.

After graduating from Franklin High School in 1962, Gail left her small town and moved to Washington DC starting her career at the Federal Aviation Administration. During this time, she married Francis Wiechecki and started a family. After his Honorable Discharge with time served from the U.S. Marine Corp they moved to Fran's hometown of Trainer, PA where they continued to grow their family. They shared 15 wonderful years of marriage and 3 children before his passing in 1980.

In 1985, Gail married W. Maurice Ayers and they became a blended family of 6.

After working as a Customer Service Representative at the Social Security Administration, she retired after 25 years. Then, she began a second career as an office assistant at Birmingham Township, serving there for over 20 years.

Gail loved spending time with her family, traveling and baking. She was an avid book reader and a member of the Historical Car Club of Pennsylvania (HCCP).

Gail was beloved wife of W. Maurice Ayers; loving mother of Dawn Pinghera, Jennifer Dubbs (Dan), Frank Wiechecki, Brenda Ayers, Jason Ayers (Karen), and Tricia Wiechecki (fiancé Dave Jones); devoted grandmother of Christina, Samantha, Fritz, Jonathan, Kylie, Becca, Hannah, Sam, Lucie and Ludo; dear sister of Joyce Greenlee (Dewayne); and aunt of Jocelyn Miller (Kenny) and Todd Greenlee (Kim).

Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing 10:00-11:00 AM Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382, 610-431-9000, followed by her Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Interment Birmingham-Lafayette Cemetery, West Chester, PA.
