Gary Shoemaker

Gary Francis Shoemaker, 73, formerly of Chester, Pa. passed away on November 29, 2017 in Anaheim, CA. He was the son of the late Anthony and Jeanette Amalfitano, and Rupert Shoemaker. He was also predeceased by his brothers Howard Shoemaker and Andrew Amalfitano. Gary enlisted in the military at the age of 17, was honorably discharged. He later served in the PA, Army National Guard and was a full time Recruiter during some of his years. He proudly served our country for 17 1/2 years. Gary was a long distance truck driver, owner operator for over 40 years. He retired in December 2011, and kept in touch with many friends he met during those years. He enjoyed going to the casino to play the slot machines, occasional bingo, hunting, fishing, bowling and playing cards. Besides doing magic tricks, and showing his grandkids card tricks, he loved to tell jokes. He taught Mike Cocco how to make a pizza many many years ago. He is survived by his beloved wife of fifty years, Marjorie Mae (nee Jones ) Shoemaker; Daughters Diane Figgs (Don), Terry Lopez (Francisco), son Gary Shoemaker (Sarah) brother Ronald Shoemaker, sisters, Esther Runge, and Priscilla Miller; 7 grandsons, and 1 granddaughter. Family and friends are invited to Gary's Viewing 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM Tuesday December 12, 2017 at the Knoetgen-Donohue Funeral Home 746 Kedron Ave. Morton, Pa 19070 also Wednesday December 13, 2017 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM with services immediately following at the Funeral Home.
