It is with deep sorrow to announce the passing of George Francis Dale of Springfield and Drexel Hill, Pa who left us on February 21, 2025 while in his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born April 20, 1941 and raised in West Philadelphia to parents Miriam (Wright) and Frank Dale.
George is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Mary (Young) Dale; his children: Jonathan (Cara), Steven (Anne), Paul (Lauren); and 8 grandchildren: Maya, Madeline, Jack, Molly, Jillian, Jonathan, Joseph and Peter Laurel; his sister, Suzanne; and nine nephews, one niece.
He was predeceased by his son, Peter Bryan Dale.
A proud 1959 graduate of St Thomas More; 1963 from Villanova University; and 1975 from Delaware Law School of Widener University.
A member of the Pennsylvania Bar since 1976; partner at Dale & Korolishin Law firm and associate member of Kent & McBride law firm.
George was a proud and loving family man with an exceptional ability to create deep and lasting relationships. From childhood to his later years, he formed strong deep bonds and friendships that lasted decades. George lived his life with kindness and generosity, exemplified by opening his heart and his home to his loving foster child, Rose, and Fresh Air Friend, Olson. He had an enthusiasm for life. He enjoyed listening to music and playing guitar, traveling with family and friends, photography, reading history, and bike riding on the Ocean City, NJ boardwalk. George found some of his most joy playing games & magic tricks with his grandchildren.
In his various roles as husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin, uncle, friend, and counselor, George showed us how to appreciate life and its fleeting small beauties. He showed us how to be there for friends and family, how to take pride in your work, how to laugh and be silly, how to love your partner and friends and family, how to give a small and authentic compliment. Days before his death, when his wife Mary came to his bedside, he mustered the energy to tell her with love “Your hair looks nice… [and] I like your sweater.”
George will be sorely missed by his loving family and friends, but his imprint on this world will be sustained - to give and receive love humbly, authentically, and generously; to keep your eyes and ears open to the unorthodox everyday beauties (i.e. the smell of skunks, which he also proclaimed to enjoy); and to laugh and joke and play.
We love you, George Dale.
