George F. Harlan, III

George F. Harlan, III, of Malvern, PA, passed away May 5, 2024.
 
Born May 18, 1946 in Philadelphia, PA, he was a son of the late George F., Jr., and Betsy (nee Hughes) Harlan. 
 
George graduated from Council Rock High School where he enjoyed playing football and baseball. He  continued his education at the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kingspoint New York where he spent eight years at sea, aboard the  S.S. American Traveler, S.S. Pioneer Commander, United States Lines Company, and S.S. Constitution.  His voyages included Brazil, Crete, Ecuador, France, Great Britain, Greece, Haiti, Jamaica, Japan, Libya, Maderia, Okinawa, Palma, Panama, Peru, Philippines, Spain, Tunisia, Turkey, and Uruguay.

After he left the merchant marine academy George moved back to Stone Harbor Nj where he met and married Kathleen Fanelli.

George spent his career building homes in the Philadelphia suburbs, Allentown and southern New Jersey. He was a member of the main line home builders association where he served as president. While he enjoyed his career, George loved spending time fishing, boating, golfing, summers in Stone Harbor and annual trips to Grand Cayman island.
 
George was the beloved husband of Kathleen Mary (nee Fanelli) Harlan; loving father of Brian F. Harlan (Meredith); caring father-in-law of Joseph Fischer; adoring grandfather of Benjamin Harlan, Sarah Harlan, Claire Harlan, and Cassidy Fischer; proud brother of Thomas J. Harlan (Terry) and Jean Harlan; Brother in law to Joe and Joanne Fanelli. He was predeceased by his daughter, Mary Katherine Fischer, in 2022.
