George Franklin Werkheiser, 96, of West Chester, PA, passed away March 10, 2025.
Born August 29, 1928 in Philadelphia, PA, he was a son of the late Albert Levine and Bertha May (nee Sterner) Werkheiser.
After attending Northeast High School in Philadelphia, George went to work for the PA Railroad in Philadelphia. After moving to West Chester in 1962, he worked as a machinist for Charles Berger & Son, Schramm, Inc., and at LMC Corporation in Kennett Square until the age of 88.
George enjoyed watching his sons and grandchildren playing baseball, going hunting with them and other friends, and being around many of his coworkers over the years who turned into dear friends.
George was the beloved husband of the late Evelyn Marie (nee Bartlett) Werkheiser; loving father of Glenn R. Werkheiser (Diane), Robert E. Werkheiser (Denise); caring grandfather of Lynn (Tommy), Michael (Amy), Lisa (Alex), Ryne, Robert, Eric (Christy), and Sydney; and proud great grandfather of Katerina, Seth, William, and Rowan. He was predeceased by his son Mark D. Werkheiser, and his siblings: Dorothy and Robert.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Graveside Service 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Philadelphia Memorial Park, 124 Phoenixville Pike, Frazer, PA 19355.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Goshen Fire Company, 1320 Park Avenue, West Chester, PA 19380.
