Gerald Hess, Jr.

Gerald P. Hess, age 82, formerly of Downingtown, passed away at the Coatesville Veterans Hospice Medical Center on Saturday May 10, 2014.
He was the husband of the late Nancy L. Hess who passed away in 2006. He was born in West Chester, son of the late Gerald P. Hess and Sarah Thompson.
He was the Owner and Operator of "Hess Welding & Fabricating" business of Downingtown that he established in 1970. He was a creative and innovator designer of wrought iron products for home and commercial use that can be seen through all of the Chester County, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York.
He is survived by his daughters, Bonnie L. Hertzog, wife of Terry L. Hertzog of Downingtown and Linda M. Presto, wife of Scott M. Presto of Alton, Illinois. Four grandchildren, Julie A. Hertzog, Jennifer L. Hertzog, Anthony S. Presto and Angela M. Presto. Two siblings, Helen Hopkins of Glenmoore and Annette Harrison of Shippensburg. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry R. L. Hess. And his sisters Jane Stewart and Sarah Alfrez.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the Garden of Grace Hospice Center doctors, nurses, and auxiliary staff of the Coatesville Veterans Medical Center for their excellent medical care and compassionate hearts.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation Wednesday 10-11 AM The Donohue Funeral Home 43 West Lancaster Ave. Downingtown, PA. Followed by interment at Forks of the Brandywine Cemetery.
