GINA MARIE SCHIAVO

November 24, 1955 to February 7, 2022.

Gina Marie Schiavo passed peacefully on February 7, 2022 from complications of COVID-19 in Yeadon Rehabilation and Nursing Center in Lansdowne, PA.  Predeceased in death by her parents, Joseph and Norma Schiavo of South Philadelphia, Gina is survived by many cousins locally and throughout the United States..  Many have fond memories of her as children and young teens.

Born, raised, and a life-long resident of South Philadelphia, Gina was an administrative secretary for many years at the Philadelphia Naval Yard until Multiple Sclerosis forced her to leave in the late 1990s.  Despite her condition, Gina always kept a positive attitude, and had a terrific sense of humor, which helped establish her as an accomplished stand-up comedian, performing at several mainstream comedy houses in Philadelphia.  Gina was always flamboyant and her comedy was no different.

All who knew Gina, knew what a 'rocker' she was and how much she loved her music.  She was also an accomplished artist.  Whatever Gina did, she did with style, creativity, and panache.  Gina was spiritual and relied on her faith to help through difficult times.

Due to COVID restrictions, a service will be held for Gina at the cemetery, where she will be interred with her parents on Monday, April 4, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Colestown Cemetery, 100 Kings Highway N, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that any donations be given in Gina's memory to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, 30 S. 17th Street, Suite 800, Philadelphia, PA 19103.
