Gloria L. Norden (nee Stocco), age 85, of Newtown Square, PA, formerly of New York State, passed away on November 7, 2015.
Gloria was born on November 6, 1930 in Utica, New York. Her love of the violin lead her to study music at the State University of New York at Potsdam where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. It is there that she met her future husband and the love of her life, Axel.
Gloria moved to Brightwaters, Long Island in 1956 and lived there until 2010. Her favorite moments were spent with friends and family on the Great South Bay and the beaches of Fire Island. A wonderful cook, food was central to every social engagement.
Gloria was an accomplished musician as both a performer and an educator. As notable as her professional career was, Gloria will be remembered by her family, friends, and colleagues for her kindness. Her greatest legacy is her family, and the love and support she bestowed. Her family and friends will always remember the great times they spent with Gloria as it was filled with laughter, a big smile, and her generosity.
Gloria is survived by her husband of 63 years, Axel Olaf Norden, her two children, Gregory (Kathleen Hahn), David (Patricia Lynn Fong) and her grandchildren Matthew Gregory, Kristen Hahn, Kai Christopher, and Annika Lin Norden. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Louise Risucci. She was preceded in death by her father Carl Stocco and her mother Rinda Stocco (nee Petty).
A celebration of life for Gloria will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 2:00 PM at Christ our Savior Chapel, 2407 Oneida Street, Utica, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Gloria's memory may be made to the Crane School of Music Scholarship Fund, Potsdam Foundation, 44 Pierrepont Avenue, Potsdam, NY 13676.
