Gloria T. Thielking (nee DelBuono), age 80, of Havertown PA, passed away on July 8, 2016.
Gloria was the beloved wife of the late Stanton Thielking. She was the loving mother of Gloria (Robert Napper) Thielking, Eric (Tracey Bunker) Thielking, Frances (John) Mahoney, Michelle Long Thielking; the loving grandmother of Michael and Brian Long; the dear sister of Frances M. Eidell, Rosemarie V. Jarman.
She was predeceased by her parents Daniel and Maria (nee Nobile) DelBuono and 5 of her siblings.
Gloria graduated from West Catholic Girls High School in 1954. She worked for Bell Telephone Co. as an operator, where she met her husband Stan. They were married in 1959, moved to Havertown in 1968 and remained married for 47 years until Stan's death in 2006. While she was raising her four children, Gloria was a Welcome Wagon representative, meeting and welcoming many into the community. She also was a Tupperware lady.
Her artistry, though, was in flowers. She worked for many florist shops in and around the area, eventually opening her own shop, Roses & Lollipops.
Upon closing her shop, but still keeping her hand in the florist business, she went to work for the St. Jude Shop, Best, and then Kohl's. She also enjoyed working at The Painted Teacup.
Gloria was a member of the Red Hatters Society, The Rosary Guild at Annunciation BVM, The Annunciation Dine Around group, and the Needlecrafters group at St. Laurence.
She loved pets of any kind, be it fur, feathers, or scales. She knew no fear.
She loved beautiful old buildings and spent much time at the Historic Grange Estate in Haverford Twp., and had a fondness for stories about haunted places.
Her favorite place was the beach and walking along the surf's edge. She loved all the creatures she would see there.
Gloria had a strong faith in the Lord and the angels in Heaven. She believed that everyone has a Guardian Angel by their side. She would often say, "Don't make your Guardian Angel work overtime!"
Gloria always had a smile on her face and was ready for the next adventure. She'd say, "If you don't have fun, it's your own fault!"
Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at 6:00-9:00 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073, 610-353-6300 followed by her Funeral Service on Thursday at 10:30 AM at Annunciation B.V.M.
