Govind Idnani

Govind G. Idnani, 83, of Kennett Square, PA passed away on May 6, 2019.

Govind was the beloved husband of Delia "Dee" (Scheetz) Idnani; loving father of Melissa Idnani; devoted grandfather of Joshua Fisher and Hunter Wilkes; dear brother of Chandru Idnani; and uncle of Geeti Bawa, Mali Wikes, John Idnani, Tara Smigielska, Sunil Idnani, Lauren Idnani-Powdrill and Jade Idnani. He was predeceased by his siblings; Vinoo Bawa, Nari Idnani, Dilip Idnani.

Born to Gulabrai and Devi (Bhavnani) Idnani in Karachi, India, before the partition with Pakistan. This even led him and his family to move to Bombay at the age of 12.

Govind earned his B.S. (Physics and Chemistry) and an M.S. (Chemical Engineering) from the University of Bombay. He earned a second Master's in Systems Engineering from the University of Surrey, London, England.

Govind worked as an engineer at various companies after coming to the US in 1969

Honeywell, Philadelphia; DuPont (consultant); Computer Science Corporation and Magnavox in Virginia, finally settling at Noblis (formerly Mitre Tek), from where he retired in 2011.

His favorite projects were the development of systems for the government and industrial automation.

Govind and Dee Idnani lived in many places including Oakton, VA, Quakertown, PA and Brookhaven, PA.

Together Dee and Govind enjoyed volunteer work with their church, Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax, VA, where they had been members since 1980. Some of their shared interests included working at the hyperthermia shelter and annual social justice yard sale, helping to establish a partner church and co-founding an orphanage both in India.

Govind's interests also included ballroom dancing, exercising and listening to music.



Services and interment are private.
