Gretchen Davis

January 16, 1939 — March 21, 2018

Gretchen L. Davis (nee Leutheuser), 79, of Devon, PA, passed away on March 21, 2018.



Born in Columbus, OH in 1939, she was the daughter of the late Robert W. and Dorothy E. (nee Krepps) Leutheuser. Gretchen was a 1956 graduate of The Columbus School for Girls and a 1960 graduate of Smith College, Northampton, MA. She was a Librarian at the Easttown Library in Berwyn, PA for more than thirty years, where she served on the Friends of the Easttown Library Board. Gretchen was an active member of the Footlighters Theater for many years, where she also served on the board. She donated her time as a Junior League Volunteer.



Gretchen was kind, patient, warm, friendly and humorous, as well as a person who continued her intellectual growth throughout her life. She shared her bright and loving personality with family and friends alike.



Gretchen loved reading, crossword puzzles, classic movies, music of all genres and theater. She had a love for nature and animals, sharing her home with many cats, dogs and other pets throughout the years.



Her greatest joy was her loving relationship with her family, friends and professional associates.



Every summer of her life Gretchen traveled to Epworth Heights, MI, a small community on Lake Michigan that her family has visited for six generations.



Gretchen was the beloved wife of Charles S. Davis, III; loving mother of Hannah Lloyd Davis, Charles S. Davis, IV (Min Jung), and Katharine E. Davis; devoted grandmother of Robert Austin Pilotte and Sarah Elizabeth Pilotte, Aiden John Davis Lorello and Dylan Jacob Davis Lorello; predeceased by her grandson, Nicholas Joseph Davis Lorello.



A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.



In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Easttown Library Foundation, in memory of Gretchen L. Davis, 720 First Avenue, Berwyn, PA 19312 would be appreciated.
