Harla J. Burns (nee Adams), age 83, of Wayne, PA, passed away on October 2, 2023. Born in Camden, NJ, she was the devoted daughter of the late Horace J. and Grace Adams (nee Barnes).
Harla was the beloved wife of the late John D. Burns; loving mother of Harla Pfeiffer (the late Robert), Carol Burns-MacVaugh (the late Horace), John Burns (Etel), David Burns (Susan), and Brian Burns; adoring grandmother of 8 grandchildren and 4 great-granddaughters; caring sister of the late Daniel Adams and Raymond J. Adams. Also survived by her sisters-in-law Patti Adams and MaryAnn Nabrzeski (nee Burns).
Harla lived her early years in Audubon, NJ. It was at a local dance nearby in Collingswood where she met her husband. Harla and John were talented ballroom dancers. Their love of dancing continued throughout their lives, even taking frequent cruises to the Caribbean and the Panama Canal where dancing was a favorite activity. Harla was always ready for fun and adventure, taking many trips to London, exploring the southwestern part of England and to Germany with her daughter and grandchildren.
Harla always had a smile on her face. She was a kind, friendly, generous person who thought of others before herself. She enjoyed volunteer work helping friends with trips to the doctor’s office and various errands in Satellite Beach, Florida where she and her husband lived for over 30 years in retirement. Harla and John were members of Holy Name of Jesus, Catholic Church. Harla had a fondness for all animals, caring for a menagerie of pets that often went along with raising 5 children. Nothing mattered more to Harla than her family. She was a doting Grandmother, always thrilled when the children would visit.
John said to Harla, that when their time on earth was through, they would meet again at “the end of the rainbow”, undoubtedly, they would be dancing.
