Harold A. Hyatt, "Hal", 86, of St. Davids, PA, died peacefully on Friday, July 29 at Seasons Hospice in Phoenixville, PA. He was the precious husband of Juliette (LeBaron Garito) Hyatt. His beloved first wife, Donna Marie (King) Hyatt, predeceased him in 2003. His sister, Pat (Hyatt) Turco died in 2014.
Born in Kingston, New York on March 30, 1930, Hal was the son of Harold A Hyatt Sr. and Anna Lucy (Wiedemann) Hyatt.
Hal is survived by four children Karen Stump, wife of Donald Stump of Pittsburgh, PA; Kevin Hyatt and his wife Marianne (Nemetz) Hyatt of Barto, PA; Michael Hyatt and his wife Cyndi (Crothers) Hyatt of Berwyn PA and Mary Beth Hyatt of Coatesville, PA. He is survived by seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His is also survived by three stepchildren Tony Garito (Debby Creamer) of Spokane, WA.; Michael Garito (Sarah McNally) of Radnor, PA and Mary Liana Garito of Philadelphia as well as four step-grandchildren.
Hal was drafted by the U.S. Army for the Korean War. After serving two years, he attended Syracuse University graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree. He worked for ten years at Ernst & Ernst (later Ernst & Young) in New York City. In 1966, Hal went to work in Blue Bell, PA for the Sperry Univac Division of the Sperry Corporation (later Unisys Corporation). He was Director of Corporate Accounting. He retired in 1995.
Hal enjoyed traveling, bicycling, riding the waves at Ocean City, New Jersey, playing tennis, and watching sports, especially the Philadelphia Flyers. For many years after his retirement, he volunteered at Valley Forge National Historic Park and St. Malachy Catholic Church in Philadelphia and he supported various charitable organizations. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Philadelphia Continental Chapter.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Friday, August 5, 2016 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 366 W. Lancaster Avenue, Wayne, PA from 1:00 PM-2:30 PM followed by a 3:00 PM Service at St. David's Episcopal Church, 736 S. Valley Forge Road, Wayne, PA. Burial of the urn will take place at St. David's at a later date.
