Hazel Brightbill

October 12, 1929 — March 24, 2019

Hazel Hearn Brightbill, 89, of Newtown Square passed away March 24, 2019.

She was born in Philadelphia, the only child of Maurice and Gladys Hearn.

She was educated in the Philadelphia public schools and later earned her BA in Education from the University of Pennsylvania.

In 1951 she was married to Edgar Nixon Brightbill at Grace Brethren Church in Philadelphia.

Following employment as an elementary teacher at Drexel Hill Elementary School, Pa. Mrs. Brightbill became a full-time, stay-at-home mother to her children.



Throughout her life she was also deeply involved with her church and community organizations, including Christian Women's Club, Young Life, Chester County Chorale Society, and the White Horse Village Singers.

She leaves her beloved husband, Edgar; her daughter, Meridith, and husband, Tom; her son, Alan; her son, Matthew and wife, Kris; and her daughter, Lesley.

She also leaves nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by an infant son, Andrew and an infant daughter, Alison.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at the Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA, and to her Celebration of Life 11:00 AM Thursday. Interment Private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Mrs. Brightbill's memory can be made to the White Horse Village Endowment Fund, White Horse Village, 535 Gradyville Road, Newtown Square, PA 19073.
