Helen Grace McDermott

Helen Grace McDermott passed away at the age of 92 on October 17, 2024. Beloved daughter to the late Vincent and Natalie (nee Narkevicz) Bilinsky.

Helen is survived by her daughters, Patricia Anderson and Christine Greenwald (William Sr.); grandchildren, Ryan, Marissa, Shana, William Jr., Ian, and Ava and Great-grandson Brady. She was predeceased by her loving husband Joseph McDermott and her siblings, Walter Bilinsky, William Bilinsky, Eleanor Neczypor, and Frances Cairnes.

Helen started her nursing career at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children after graduating from St. Agnes Hospital School of Nursing. After taking some time off to care for her daughters, Helen returned to the workforce and spent many years at both Bryn Mawr Hospital and Wills Eye Hospital. Helen was a natural caregiver to her patients and family members, always serving others before herself. Her effervescent personality and desire to provide the best patient care was apparent to her employers and patients.

Helen was a life long learner with a continuing thirst for knowledge. She was an avid reader who loved wandering around the book store for hours. This passion lead Helen attending St. Joseph's University as an adult student to obtain a bachelor's degree in social medicine. 

Her warm sense of humor always served to bring a smile to the face of others, loved ones, and strangers alike. 

Relatives and friends are invited to Helen’s visitation on Saturday, November 9th at Sacred Heart Church, 105 Wilson Avenue, Havertown, PA from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM followed by her funeral mass at 10:30 AM. Interment at Calvary Cemetery, 235 Matsonford Road, West Conshohocken, PA.
