Helen Theresa Morrow (née Dunne), 94, of West Chester, PA, formerly of Broomall, PA passed away peacefully at home on December 18th, 2022.
“Theresa” or “Terry” as she was known, was born September 11th, 1928, in Bryn Mawr, PA. Daughter to Edward Patrick Dunne and Helen Barbara Dunne (née Joyce), Terry was raised in the Fishery near Roundstone, then the family farm in Emloughmore, Galway, Ireland.
Terry always adored Ireland, and hated leaving at twenty for America, but met and married the love of her life Richard J. Morrow Sr., so it all worked out in the end. Married sixty-eight years, they had four children, six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
A self-taught cook, she’d know recipes by heart, and baked to perfection. Always one to enjoy knitting, even if the project was thrown in the closet for months, she knit Aran sweaters for her family. Terry loved to dance and watch dancing, especially a waltz. She danced till the end and enjoyed the Irish dances in Philadelphia back in the day. She loved the ocean, putting her feet in the sand, always trying to get a ‘little’ tan.
With a brilliant mind, the kindest heart and coolest wit, Terry was an amazing homemaker. Even with her wooden spoon, she was beloved and adored by her children. And with her big smile and love, she will always be cherished and admired by her grandchildren, great grandchild, and many, many nieces, and nephews.
Reading, news/sports watching, recipe clipping, and card game winning were some of her hobbies. “Queen of cards/Card shark,” as she’d lovingly be referred to, she kicked butt every hand. Her family swears she hid cards up her sleeves, but no, we checked, she was just that good.
Theresa loved spending time with family and friends, with good cuppa tea, chocolate, music, card games, and a good laugh. The most important thing was family.
She lived life to the fullest.
Her heartwarming smile, hugs, kisses, and loving ‘hits’ will be sorely missed.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hAnam dílis. “May her loyal soul rest on the right side of God.”
Theresa is survived by her husband, Richard J. Morrow Sr., sister Sheila O’Neill, daughters Theresa M. Brossman (John), Maureen H. Duffy (Edward), and Lisa A. Morrow; grandchildren John R. Brossman (Susan), Kelly H. Malloy (Justin), Elizabeth T. Duffy, Maura H. Duffy, Edward H. M. Duffy, and Sean P. Duffy; and great grandchild, Julia M. Malloy.
