Helen Strickland

Helen V. Strickland (nee Valent), age 96, of Upper Darby, PA , passed away on August 16, 2015. Born in Lansford, PA, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Susan Valent (nee Dolak). She was a 1937 graduate of Lansford Panther Valley High School and received her nursing degree from Philadelphia General Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed as a Registered Nurse for 35 years at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.



Helen was predeceased by her husband George Strickland and her sister Kathryn Bendsen. She is survived by her brother Robert Valent, D.D.S., nieces, nephews, 9 great-nieces and nephews and 13 great-grand nieces and nephews.



Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Saturday, August 22, 2015 9:30-10:20 AM St. Laurence Church, 8245 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA and to her Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.



In lieu of flowers, contributions in Helen's memory to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, 34th & Civic Center Blvd., Philadelphia, PA 19104 would be appreciated.
