Hildegard Miller

With great sadness we note the passing of Hildegard “Hilde” Miller on October 19, 2024, at the Zerbe Sisters Nursing Center in Narvon, PA. She was 93 years old. 

Born in Blaustein, Germany in 1930, Hilde survived the war with her parents, Ernst, and Franziska Buhler, and her three sisters, Emmi, Lisa and Margot. 

In 1950 she married Walter Miller and together they emigrated to the United States in 1957. They had one son, Klaus, and bought their first house in Secane, PA in 1960. 

Hilde was a tireless worker and supplemented their income by cleaning houses. Her husband Walter worked at the Ludwig Honold Manufacturing Company in Folcroft, PA. They moved to Glen Mills in 1966 and Hilde worked in retail sales with the Strawbridge and Clothier Store in Springfield during the 60s and 70s.

Homemaking was the passion of her life, and she was well known by all for keeping a spotless, immaculate house and beautiful gardens with many varieties of flowers. Hilde was an excellent cook and baker, and she also created wonderful sweaters, blankets and other items with her knitting and sewing skills. 

In 1990 she and Walter built a beautiful home in Lancaster County near Bowmansville, where she lived the rest of her life. Friends and neighbors will recall her kindness and generosity. Everything she touched she made better and more beautiful. 

In her last years she still kept a neat and clean home and worked diligently tending to her gardens and flowers. May she finally rest in peace. 

Hilde was preceded in death by her beloved husband Walter, her parents Ernst and Franziska and her sister Emmi.  

She is survived by her son Klaus Miller, her sisters Lisa Sablosky and Margot (Franz) Molle, nieces Laura (Gary) Hitchens, Terry (Dave) Pedicone, Tracey Di Filippo and nephews Bob (Maureen) Miller, Eric (Diana) Miller, Harald (Jacqueline) Molle and sister-in-law, Norma Miller.  

Visitation will be held 10:00 AM-12:00 PM Thursday, October 24, 2024, at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382. Interment will be private.
