Howard W. Calkins

Howard William Calkins, 85, of West Chester, PA, formerly of Aston, PA, passed away surrounded by his loving family on August 8, 2023.

Originally from Syracuse, NY, Howard was the son of Howard and Jane (Zimmerman) Calkins. He graduated in 1958 from St. Mary School for the Deaf and soon after relocated to Philadelphia, PA to attend Penn College. He worked at Sun Ship in Chester, PA. On September 6, 1969, Howard married Rosalie (Riley) Calkins and settled into Aston, PA where they raised their three daughters. He was a welder for many years and held other jobs until he retired in 2003.

He loved his wife and family most, making sure they knew that every time he saw them. Spending time together was his favorite thing to do. Howard enjoyed all the family vacations and trips taken together.

Howard had a passion for cars and trains, especially classics including his 1973 Impala that he kept for many years. He loved to listen to 1950’s music and remember the good old days when he was a teenager. His quirky and funny personality was loved by all who met him and he kept everyone laughing.

Howard was predeceased by his parents and his son. Leaving behind to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 52 years, Rosalie (Riley) Calkins; three daughters, Teresa (Bill) Hollingsworth, Pauline (Karl) Baur, and Rosalie (Mike) White; nine grandchildren, Skylar, Ainsley, Rosalie, Krew, Elise, Paige, Pauline, William, and Alix; and a host of family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 9:30-11:00 AM Monday, August 14, 2023 at St. Joseph Church, 3255 Concord Road, Aston, PA 19014 followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment private.
