Hugh F. Breslin, Jr., age 86, passed from this life on July 1, 2022.
He is survived by his son, Hugh (Robin), his daughters, Kathryn Wells (Mason) and Tara Vittone (Paul), six grandchildren, as well as his close relative, Edward Boyle, and his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Rose (McGarvey) Breslin, his sister Helen (Sr. Rose Miriam Breslin, RSM), and his close relative, Loretta Boyle.
Hugh was born and raised in Philadelphia, the son of Irish immigrants. Both of his parents were from County Donegal, his mother travelling to America, along with his Aunt Winnie when they were just teenagers. He was very proud of his Irish heritage and often recounted the story of his lineage, “Hughie, Hughie, John, Hughie, son Hughie”, Hugh IV. Given his love for golf, he enjoyed visiting Ballybunion Golf Club in Ireland, where he was an overseas member and had many friends
Hugh attended St. Joseph’s Prep, “The Prep”, and is a graduate of Villanova University and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant, junior grade, on the USS Boston. Hugh had a long and varied career, working in several industries and multiple countries including Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands. Although essentially retired, he continued to tinker at inventions within his field and attend industry trade shows well into his 70s. He was always generous with advice and many considered him a mentor.
His family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses, and health care professionals from whom he sought care.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 10:00-11:00 AM Monday, July 25, 2022 at SS Simon & Jude Church, 8 Cavanaugh Court, West Chester, PA 19382, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
