Ida Povich

January 4, 1921 — July 2, 2014

Ida M. Povich (nee Vecchiotti), age 93, of Wynnewood, Pa. passed away on July 2, 2014. Born on January 4, 1921 in Chieti, Italy east of Rome, she was the daughter of Pasquale and Emelia Vecchiotti (nee Massini). Emigrating to the United States, she and her sister Olga came with their parents through Ellis Island in New York before moving to the Philadelphia area. Ida was a graduate of South Philadelphia High School, later employed at General Electric, Sears and subsequently for many years as an Executive Secretary at Walworth Corporation, a manufacturing company. Widowed twice, she was the wife of the late Salvatore F. Pisasale and the late Stephen Povich.

Ida was devoted to her family, working full-time throughout most of her adult life to help support her children. An intelligent, yet humble woman, she was guided by simple precepts: honesty, hard work and kindness towards others. Ida loved to sing and for three years was a member of the vocal group at Rosemont Presbyterian Village in Bryn Mawr, Pa.

Her surviving children are Paulette (Nat) Goodman, Connie (Tom) Siewert, Salvatore (Jean) Pisasale, Marcella (Jerry) Ade and Gene (Phyllis Recca) Pisasale. Her third daughter Miranda (Craig) Howard passed away in 2009. Ida's legacy includes 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to Ida's Memorial Mass on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 10:00 AM being held at Presentation BVM Church, 204 Haverford Avenue, Wynnewood, Pa. Interment will be after the Mass at Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery in Springfield, Pa. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to the American Heart Association would be appreciated.
