Iolanda Bianco (nee Ritossa), 88, of Downingtown, PA, and formerly of Utica, NY, passed away on December 9, 2014 at St. Martha Manor.
Born in Capodistria, Italy, on October 22, 1926, Iolanda was the daughter of the late Antonio and Erminia (nee Antonelli) Ritossa.
She was trained in clothing design and worked as a seamstress for bridal shops in Utica, NY. Iolanda was an exceptionally gifted and creative seamstress. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing everything from clothes to drapes to pillows as well as knitting, crocheting and needlepointing. Iolanda also loved cooking Italian dishes, and was especially known for her signature desserts -- apple and ricotta strudels.
She was the loving wife of the late Duilio "Dewey" Bianco. They were married in Italy and came to the U.S. in 1951 with their son, Luciano Bianco.
Iolanda was the loving mother of Luciano Bianco (Mary C.) and Elizabeth Bianco Murphy (Robert); and loving grandmother "nonna" of Nicholas Bianco (Karen), Catherine Bianco (David Weaver), Ashley Porter (Ryan Kennedy) and Courtney Imel (Evan).
Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation 10:00-10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2014 and to her Funeral Mass 10:30 a.m. at St. Martha Manor Chapel, 490 Manor Avenue, Downingtown, PA 19335. The family also will hold a memorial service in Florida, which will be led by Iolanda's grandson, Pastor Evan Imel, and his father, Pastor Donald Imel.
