Istvan Ruszkay, 79, of West Chester, PA passed away on May 30, 2023.
Born on November 11, 1943 in Abaújszántó, Hungary, he was the beloved son of the late Andras and Anna (Lencses) Ruszkay. He was the youngest of 5 children. Istvan was predeceased by Kato (Ruszkay) Hollo of Kazincbarcika Hungary, Anna (Ruszkay) Baranyai of Toronto Canada, and Andrew Ruszkay of West Chester PA. Istvan is survived by sister Eva (Ruszkay) Cserhalmi.
Istvan grew up in Hungary, after the 8th grade he completed trade school to become a machinist. He then fulfilled 2 years of service in the Hungarian military, where he completed several parachute jumps and was discharged honorably.
He immigrated to the United States in 1969, and began working with brother Andrew and partner (Mike Dravinski) at newly established machine shop R&D. In the late 1970’s he would begin his own venture, and open Ruszkay’s Machine Co. located in West Chester PA. Small, specialized fabrication services were his specialty for the next 20-25 years. After deciding to close the shop, he continued working part time at ACR Machine (Coatesville PA) and TRI (Exton PA) for several years until deciding to retire full time in 2016. Istvan loved fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Istvan was married in Hungary before moving to the United States. He was married to Nemet Katalin in Hungary in late 1960’s. After the marriage dissolved, he moved to the United States, and married again to the late Elizabeth Mary (Bodor) from 1972-1995. Istvan is the loving father of Bernedette Zuberecz (Zoltan), Stephen J. Ruszkay (Christine) and John Ruszkay; and very proud grandfather of Anita and Zoltan Zuberecz, Callie Ruszkay, Connor and Liam Ruszkay.
Friends and relatives are invited to his Viewing 9:00-11:00 AM Saturday, June 10, 2023 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA followed by his Funeral Service 11:00 AM. Interment Birmingham Lafayette Cemetery, 1235 Birmingham Road, West Chester PA.
