Jacqueline O'Donnell

April 19, 1924 — January 8, 2014

Jacqueline (Carroll), on January 8, 2014, of Wayne, PA for more than 65 years, born on April 19, 1924 to John Thomas and Catherine Burke Carroll. She was the sister of Mary Hickey of Chalfont, ("without whom life would have been much duller", she wrote) and of the late Patricia Morrissey, and the beloved mother of Kathy Hykes (Bob), Burlington, NC, the late Jacqueline Winslow, Marty O'Donnell (Janette), Malvern, John P. O'Donnell (Kathleen), Bethlehem, Mary Patricia Curran (Dan), Auburn, WA, Nancy Feeney (Dan), West Chester and the late Michael. She is mourned by thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and dear friends.

She was a graduate of Little Flower High School and Chestnut Hill College. She met Martin H. O'Donnell through college friends and they were married after the war in 1946 until his death in 1977. She worked for 22 years as parish administrator at St. David's Episcopal Church, Devon.

She had a gift for friendship and a highly developed independent spirit that took her on a solo trip cross country by train and many visits to far flung family members. She was a woman who trusted being herself and countless friends of her children looked to her as a model. She will be quoted for years and missed forever.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 9:15 a.m. in the Chapel of Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 35 Old Eagle School Road, Strafford, PA and to her Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those who wish to remember her in this way make a contribution to the Endowment at Chestnut Hill College, 9601 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19118.
