James Ahern, Jr.

James Joseph Ahern, Jr. 1948-2019, died peacefully at his home in Punta Gorda, Florida on Wednesday, December 18th at the age of 71. James was the son of the late James Sr. and Mary Eells Ahern of Bethlehem, PA. Throughout his life, nothing made James happier than being surrounded by his children, grandchildren, family, and friends.

He also found tremendous joy in sports, whether it was listening to Harry Kalas call another win for the “Fightin’ Phils”, playing a round of golf with friends, or being named a Notre Dame High School Hall of Fame Athlete for his accomplishments in Basketball and Track. In addition, he was an avid fan of the LaSalle Explorers and the UVA Cavaliers.

Prior to retirement he was SVP of Adecco, Inc. and head of US Franchise Operations; Past President of the La Salle University Alumni Association, Class of 1971; Past President of the Sea Isle City Yacht Club.

James is survived by his siblings, Maryellen Ahern MD (the late Donald Dodson MD), Thomas Ahern MD (Susan), three children - Sean (Erin), Conor, and Brendan Ahern and grandchildren Riley and Michaela Ahern.

Visitation and Funeral Services will be held at Annunciation BVM, 401 Brookline Blvd., Havertown, PA.Saturday, 12/28 from 9:30-10:45 am, followed by Mass at 11:00 am. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, PA.
