We are saddened to announce the passing of James John Arizini, Sr. on January 27, 2021.
Known throughout his life as Big Jim, JJA, Potsey, Dad and PopPop to all that knew and loved him.
Jim was predeceased by his Father, Ralph Arizini and Mother, Ruth Brown. His siblings are Ralph Jr., June Marie, Hope and predeceased by brother. Peter.
Jim has 5 children, James John Jr. (Denise), Judith Ann, Susan Marie, John Henry (Tabitha) and David Ralph (Marieke). He is blessed with 7 grandchildren: James J. 3rd, Matthew, Nicolaas, Isabella and Carolina Arizini and Michael T. and James T Stevenson.
Additionally, Gail McConnell meant everything to Jimmy. They shared so much in their retirement years, from travel vacations, out to the vineyard, down to the shore, attending kids and grandkids outings, sporting events or just sharing simple meals, they were inseparable. Jim adored Gail.
Core Values
He adhered to the Golden Rule and Exceptionalism. Honesty and Truth were hallmark qualities he followed for himself and expected from his family.
Show up on time and always bring your “A” Game
“Enter to Learn..Go Forth to Serve”...Lower Merion High School was the academic institution where Jim made and became a part of a huge circle of friends, from the Main Line to Stone Harbor. RAS, Uncle Terry, Zooie, Shark, Cliff, Jack, and many more life long friends. While many have passed, the Heavens now may rejoice as JJA is in The House and they are once again united!
His egg route at 5 years old started Jim on the path to hard work. From Drugs to Alcohol, Jim enjoyed a successful career first as a Top pharmaceutical salesman with Wyeth and Roche moving to the Wines and Spirits business where he joined his best friend Bobby (RAS) as President of Spatola Wines. Together they had much fun and success ensuring the State stores and restaurants were fully stocked with an expansive selection of vivation! Co Workers, Clients and anyone who was involved with Jim loved his wit, humor, and great personality. He insisted everyone be treated with Respect..from the “Janitor to the CEO”, he would say so often!
Jim’s greatest accomplishment and source of pride was that of his five children, who followed the example set by their father, combined with a strict puritan work ethic, which led each to their own success. As a testament to Jim, he was blessed with a strong, closely knit family who shared in the lives of many of his children’s friends. Everyone got a nickname and was a friend and mentor to many.
Rabid Sport fanatic! Big Ten, College football, Eagles, Phillies and Flyers!
In his final days, was ecstatic to report he would be the next coach of the Flyers!
Rest In Peace Dad, we love you!
