James “Jim” Edward Dalton, 81, of West Chester, PA passed away on November 15, 2023.
Born in 1942 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Edward and Ellen (nee Condon) Dalton.
Jim was a graduate of West Catholic High School for Boys, a graduate of LaSalle College and earned his Master’s degree from St. Joseph’s University. He worked as a teacher of English & Latin for 52 years in PA, NJ and Australia. While living in Australia, he enjoyed adding radio disc jockey at a classical music station (4MBS-FM) to his resume.
He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and appreciated all types of music, especially opera. He was a Deacon at St. Anastasia Church in Newtown Square and enjoyed his visits with the sick in nursing homes. Jim was very kind, a great listener and always appreciated a good joke. His favorite thing was spending time with his wife, daughters, grandchildren and sons-in-law. Jim was often sought out by former students over the years, and was thrilled to reconnect to hear about their accomplishments and lives today.
Jim was married for 57 years to the love of his life, Maryanne (née Kunik) Dalton; He was the loving father of Anne Marie Lewis (Wayne), Jenny O’Lock (John), Lizzy Negron Dalton (Candido) and Coleen Kelly (Chris); proud grandfather of Jessica Lion (Rich), Zachary Chandlee, Megan Negron Dalton, Brittany Negron Dalton, Corrina O’Lock, Aurora Negron Dalton, Candido Negron Dalton, Isabella Negron Dalton, Sydney Kelly, Brisbane Kelly; great-grandfather of Richard John Lion; dear brother of Ellen Wisnieweski (Rich) and Mary Dalton McLernon.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass 11:00 AM, Friday November 24, 2023 at SS Simon & Jude Church, 8 Cavanaugh Ct., West Chester, PA 19382.
