James M. Danner, Jr.

James “Jim” M. Danner, Jr., age 70, of Wayne, PA, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 17, 2025. Born in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late James M. Danner, Sr. and Clara (nee Barnhart) Danner. Beloved husband to Loretta Rieser-Danner, Jim was also a loving and giving father to James M. Danner, III (Elizabeth), Joshua M. Danner, and Jeremy M. Danner (Lauren) and adoring grandfather to James, Hannah, Maggie, Jade, and a new granddaughter expected in April. Jim is also survived by siblings Clara Winters (Tom) and Chuck Danner (Christina), aunt Claudia Ruth, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. 

Jim grew up in State Line, PA, a farm boy at heart. He was a proud Eagle Scout who succeeded in school, earning varsity letters in football and track. He learned a passion for wood working and carpentry from his father and attended Penn State University, where he met his wife, Loretta. After spending the first six years of their life together in Austin, TX, they ultimately made their home in Wayne, PA, living here for more than 37 years. It was here that he became recognized for his skill as a master carpenter. Jim never shied away from helping and teaching friends and family whenever he could. He always put family, friends, and community first, always sure about what was most important. Above all, Jim’s greatest passion was being a mentor, chauffeur, cub scout master, and avid Radnor sports fan for his three sons and grandchildren. 

His family will always remember him for his big heart, never missing an opportunity for a hug and an “I Love You”, his vacation sand sculptures, his ready availability of tools, his passion to help when things went wrong, and his knack for finding creative solutions for interesting problems around the house. 

Relatives and friends are invited to James’s visitation on Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by his memorial service at 11:30 AM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 366 West Lancaster Avenue, Wayne, PA. Interment private.
