James Joseph Friel, age 71, of Havertown, PA, passed away on February 8, 2017. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late James and Mary Friel (nee McFadden).
James was a graduate of St. Thomas More High School and a member of the St. Thomas More Alumni Association. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. James was a Past President of CWA Local 13000. He was employed as a Telecommunications Engineer. He played a vital part in the rebuilding and recovery of Ground Zero post 911.
James enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters, and spending time in Sea Isle City, NJ. He enjoyed salt water fishing and cooking, especially breakfast and barbecue.
James is survived by his beloved wife, Diane (nee Rosini), his children Christine (Brian) Bloemker, James Andrew (Nikole) Friel and Teresa (Fiance' Jon Fielder) Friel, his granddaughters Emma, Molly, Ryan and Drew Marie, and his sisters Sr. Noreen James Friel, I.H.M. and Sr. Peggie Friel, I.H.M.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Sunday, February 12, 2017 6:00-8:00 PM The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike (cor. Lynn Blvd.) and Monday, February 13, 2017 10:00-10:50 AM Annunciation BVM Church, 401 Brookline Blvd., Havertown, PA and to his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
