James Charles Grandizio

James Charles “Jim” Grandizio, age 57, of Drexel Hill, PA, passed away on March 15, 2025. Born in Darby, PA, and grew up in Upper Darby, PA he was the son of Francis Grandizio and the late Adele Grandizio (nee Evans).

For 27 remarkable years, Jim dedicated himself to the role of a bus and trolley operator for SEPTA, embodying a commitment to service and connection that made a lasting impact on countless travelers throughout the region. His steady hands and kind demeanor were traits that passengers cherished; he was not just a driver, but a familiar face who brightened the daily commute with his warmth and approachability.

Outside of his professional life, Jim was someone who relished in the joy of simple pleasures. The beach was his sanctuary, with both Ocean City, NJ, and Long Beach Island holding a special place in his heart. On sunny days, one could often find him enjoying the soothing sound of the waves, creating cherished memories. His love for the open road and the freedom it represented spoke to his adventurous spirit; he enjoyed driving anywhere that would allow him to explore new horizons and embrace the thrill of spontaneity.

A passionate sports enthusiast, Jim was an unwavering supporter of the Philadelphia Phillies and the Eagles. His enthusiasm for the games was infectious, inspiring camaraderie and conversation among friends and family alike. Alongside the excitement of sports, he found entertainment in the allure of gambling and the thrill of the casino, often relishing the excitement it brought into his life.

Jim was the beloved husband of Deborah Ann Grandizio (nee Cicchini); loving father of Samantha Grandizio; caring brother of William Grandizio (Debbie), Kathleen Bucciarelli (Frank), Frank Grandizio, Jr. (Liz), John Grandizio (Theresa), and Adele Grandizio. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to Jim’s Visitation 9:30-11:00 AM on Friday, March 21, 2025, at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082, followed by his Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Interment Private.
