James "Jay" A. Hodgson, 58, of Exton, formerly of West Chester, passed away on June 4, 2015.
Born in Drexel Hill, PA, in 1957, Jay was the beloved son of Ruth E. (Ezekiel) and William W. Hodgson.
He was also the loving father of Jamie Hodgson and Michael Griffith; loving brother of Bill Hodgson Jr. (Pam Hardy), John Hodgson (Cecelia), and Craig Hodgson (Christine); dear uncle of Christine, Corinne, Gregory, John, Caitlin and Georgia and great-nephew, Jackson. He is also survived by his former wife, Leslie W. Hodgson.
He owned and operated Jay's Tree Service for more than 30 years out of his home in Exton where he was known for going out of his way to please-whether satisfying customers or helping out a neighbor in need.
Deeply loyal to friends and family alike, Jay had a great sense of humor along with unique, often colorful expressions, which served to only further endear himself to everyone he encountered.
When he was younger, Jay's athleticism and fearlessness led to many daring, mostly legal stunts that won admirers but kept his parents on edge. Later in life, he was able to apply those same traits to a successful career of climbing and cutting down trees.
In addition to being a big NASCAR and Eagles fan, Jay had a passion for motor vehicles

Despite some hard living that took a toll on his body, Jay was a gentle soul. He loved his animals, especially his border collies Ginger and Rudy, and was kind and giving right to the end.
