James J. Dougherty, Sr. on October 22, 2013, of Middletown, formerly of Upper Darby and West Philadelphia.
Jim attended St. Thomas More High School and St. Joseph University. He worked for various insurance companies as a health and life insurance underwriter and was an FLMI.
Jim was secretary of the 69th Street Athletic Association and coached softball while his sons were active players.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, Joseph M. and Margaret (Callahan) Dougherty, brother Joseph M. Jr. and sister Maryann Carr.
He is survived by his loving wife Florence (nee Shane) Dougherty, his sons James D. (Jeni Tiller) and Christopher D. (Stephanie Potts) Dougherty, his grandchildren Brianna Lynn and Christopher James Dougherty and Elijah Tiller, and his brother Dennis (Judith) Dougherty.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Joseph's Center Foundation, 2010 Adams Avenue, Scranton, PA 18509-1599.
Services will be held privately.
