James Martin, Jr.

James J. Martin, Jr., age 84, of Newtown Square, PA, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2021.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late James J. Sr. and Anna (nee Gavin) Martin.

James was a graduate of St. Thomas More High School, Class of 1954. He went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Army. He then became a mail carrier with the USPS for 35 years in the Newtown Square area. James was an avid Philadelphia sports team fan as well. He was a proud Fourth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus and a member of the American Legion Post 688 in Wayne, PA.

James was the beloved husband of Joan R. (nee Ciancia) Martin; the loving step-father of Sherry McClay (Bruce), Kelly McCarthy (Tara), Kathleen McCarthy and Kimberly Campenella; the proud grandfather of Ian Livingston and great-grandfather of Abbagail Livingston. He was the brother of Marie Quin, Kathleen Taggart (Jack), John Martin and Ellen Evans and uncle to many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers, Edward and Robert Martin.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation, Thursday evening, March 18, 2021, 6:00 – 8:00 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073, 610-353-6300, and on Friday morning, 9:30 – 10:30 AM at St. Anastasia Church, 3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA  19073, followed by his Funeral Mass, 10:30 AM. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, PA.
