James Joseph “Jim” McCaffrey, age 75, of Havertown, PA and Cape May Court House, NJ, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 28, 2021.
Born in Darby, Pa, he was the son of the late James and Esther (nee Morris) McCaffrey.
Jim was a graduate of Monsignor Bonner High School, Class of ‘63. Jim served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force as part of the Strategic Air Command, 509th Bomber Wing. Jim worked at Lockheed Martin as an Aerospace Engineer for 43 years.
Jim was very proud of his Irish heritage, hence obtaining dual citizenship and visiting Ireland many times to connect with family in Creeslough, Donegal and Tempo, Fermanagh, where he researched family genealogy and history. Just like his father, Jim was a “phanatical” Phillies fan. Jim was a member of American Legion Post 355 in Bala Cynwyd, and belonged to the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Dennis Kelly Post Havertown. Jim also helped countless men and women for over 30 years in the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Jim was the beloved husband of Kathleen (nee D’Annunzio) McCaffrey; the loving father of Erin McCaffrey, James Joseph McCaffrey, III (Allyson) and Brian John “BJ” McCaffrey. Also survived by two grandchildren, Alana Nell and Eamonn Sage. Brother of Joan Falcone (the late Nick), Sr. Mary James McCaffrey, I.H.M., Bernadette Salopek (Joseph), and the late Mary Giuliano. Also survived by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing, Monday evening, April 5, 2021, 6:00 – 8:00 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073, 610-353-6300, and Tuesday morning, 9:30 – 10:50 AM at St. John Neumann Parish, 380 Highland Lane, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM.
