James J. "Jim" Murphy, 86, of Springfield, PA, passed away on January 27, 2019.
Born in Philadelphia, PA in 1933, he was the son of the late James P. and Delia (nee O'Brien) Murphy. Jim was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Dorothy Parish. He served as an Electronics Technician aboard the USS Monrovia during the Korean War, graduated from Drexel University with a degree in Electrical Engineering, was a licensed amateur/ham radio operator and enjoyed traveling abroad. Jim was proud of his Irish roots and liked to play Irish music on the piano.
He was the beloved husband of the late Marie (nee Kelly) Murphy; loving father of Christine M. Lagore (Joseph); caring grandfather of Joseph and Katelyn.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 9:30-10:20 AM Friday, February 1, 2019 at St. Dorothy Church, 4910 Township Line Road, Drexel Hill, PA 19026 followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment Calvary Cemetery.
