James J. Prendergast, age 86, of Villanova, Pennsylvania, went home to God early Saturday morning January 19, 2019.
He was the beloved husband of the "love of his life" Dorothy; loving father of 7 children and their spouses Cate C. (Francis) Greaney, Frank (Rose), Tom (Kathleen), Jim, Mary, Pat and Dottie and the grandchildren that brought him so much joy Aidan, Bridget, Danny, Megan, Molly and Ryan.
God took Pat and Dottie to heaven as children, when they succumbed to Cystic Fibrosis.
James accomplished much in his life, the greatest of which was his role as husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and friend. He was love in action, always thinking of others first, praying, helping, giving, and caring.
He had a great sense of humor, even in the midst of his sufferings since 2010, when he was first diagnosed with prostate cancer, then bone cancer and many more health issues. His family's heart is broken at his passing, the comfort is that he is no longer suffering and now is in the arms of God our Father, and his Son, Jesus Christ, and the Dearest Holy Spirit.
The son of Irish immigrants, Jim was blessed with gifts that brought him to great heights: Law Partner at Townsend Elliott & Munson, then Pepper, Hamilton, LLP; Consultant to the City of Philadelphia; Elected "Regular Fellow of the American College of Bond Counsel"; Bar admitted to the Court of Common Pleas Philadelphia, Supreme Court of PA, Superior Court of PA, District Court of Eastern PA; Co-Authored finance and planning related publications; Lower Merion Commissioner; Councilman St. Thomas of Villanova, Founder and Vice President Girls Catholic Academy League.
He was Member of the Justinian Society, Overbrook Country Club, Whitemarsh Country Club, Union League of Philadelphia, the Vesper Club and the PLA Club. He had a special place in his heart for his alma mater, St. Thomas More High School.
We could go on ...
