James Salter

James “Jimmy” “Wumbo” M. Salter, age 51, of Upper Darby, passed away March, 29, 2023.  Beloved son of the late William Joseph Salter and Julia (nee Cosgrove).

Jimmy is survived by his loving siblings, Mary Alice Salter and William “Pep” (Kristin) Salter.  He was the adoring uncle to Emily (Vince) and Mathew and the great uncle to Sonny and Beau.

We called him Wumbo for as long as we can remember and he loved it!  He was a kind soul with the biggest heart and always put others before himself.  No one was a stranger.   He never let anyone dictate how he wanted to live.  He was a huge sports fan and loved all things Gritty.  The last sporting event he attended  was to see the Phillies win the National League Division (he was not a fan of Dancing on my Own..lol).   You could see him walking through the neighborhood going to play his numbers and buying his big beers.  He always thought he would hit it big and take care of his family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation Thursday, April 6^th 9:30AM to 11:00AM followed by his Funeral Service at 11:00AM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby.  Interment to follow at the Whitemarsh Cemetery.
